Happy Fat Tuesday!

I hope everyone is having a great Fat Tuesday today! I am technically supposed to be off because the school that I work for is out of Louisiana and therefore gets 3 days off for Mardi Gras! Isn't that cool? I bet that it's pretty crazy in New Orleans right now, and I can only imagine the amount of beads that are being thrown!  Despite the holidays, I decided to work anyway to make some extra moolah! This past weekend was pretty laid back, but I figured I could go ahead and share some pictures. Ryan was busy busy studying for his COMPS which will be on March 9th (so please pray for us). He has a specific study schedule that he goes by, which will inevitably help him also with his Step 1 exam which he will take when we come home at the end of April. This is the big and important test, but I am so proud that Ryan is already so dedicated and serious about it! Way to go Ryan!

Anyway.. I digress. Where was I? Oh yeah- so while Ryan was studying, I got together with two of my favorite spouses for a pool/beach day. Here are some pictures from Lara's place. It's very nice, but as she would say it: It is wicked nice! (She is Canadian, and I love to hear her talk!)
Gorgeous view from their complex's balcony area

Lyssa and Lara! Love ya'll!

Lara, Lyssa, and myself. It took us forever to take a decent picture!

The sun was going down so we moved to Lara's porch/balcony area

So pretty!

Our feet

Can you see the cruise ship going by? It was all lit up!

Anyway, we had a good time and we decided that we need to get together more often before I have to leave!

Not sure if I had mentioned it before but I do an informal/unofficial "Zumba" class with some of the spouses here once or twice a week, depending on everyone's schedules. Here is a picture from last night's class! Check out my zumba pants that I tie-dyed myself!

I hope everyone has a great week! So long...

Golf, Ryan's Birthday, Dodgeball, and Valentine's Day!

We went to play golf at the golf course right beside the medical school and where we live. It was a overcast day with some rain here and there, but it kept it from being so hot. We had fun, and I enjoyed being the caddy!
Doesn't Ryan look so professional?

I tried to get a panoramic shot of the course

I got a little bored and explored some of the abandoned buildings near the golf course. They used to be really nice beach houses on the golf course but a hurricane in 1996 destroyed them, and they have been like this ever since. Not until recently, have they started tearing them down. These are the only 2 left.

I didn't go inside but I wanted to..

I was trying to capture the scenery and different trees

They had to take their annual golf picture on the ledge!

Further away

Yay!

I wanted to do it too!

Closer

Let's jump off! I love this. Check out Ryan's legs!

What is on the other side of that ledge!

Ryan took me out on a date to Bajatzu.

It was delicious and fun!

Mimi came to visit us on a cruise ship! It was so cool and big! I had never seen a cruise ship up close or even been on one, so it was really fun for me!

Pretty big!

Mimi and Ryan! We got to go on the cruise ship and pig out all day! We ate lunch at the buffet and then later we ate some great ice cream.

After Mimi left, we were walking along the boardwalk where the cruise ships dock and I saw this little guy just walking around. I had to take a picture.

He became a little camera shy so I had to chase him, but I got him finally!

Docie came to visit after she took her Step 1 exam! We went to Karakter (this awesome place on the beach near the airport that serves dinner and drinks) for tapas. There was also a saxophone player there that night playing jazz. It was really cool.

I loved being on the beach at night!

I took Ryan to Mary's Boon Resort for his birthday for a massage!

It was so pretty that day!

The Dodgeball Tournament! This is Ryan with his mask on. Can't you tell by his Ole Miss shirt? :)

Spouses' Cooking Club
We made homemade pizza! It was so good! I haven't tried it on my own yet, but I enjoyed getting together with everyone.

We watched some youtube videos while we ate

Docie and I went to Grand Case for the day. This is a shot from the parking lot of the surrounding mountains.

Aren't they pretty?

The beach was so gorgeous that day.

Docie!

Lots of boats out on the water

Docie and Me while we waited for our lunch

Check out all of the tourists behind us! I was just saying to Docie that I hadn't seen very many tourists for it being the High Season. Docie gave me a look that said- "Really?" Then, about an hour went by and tons of boats starting dropping off all kinds of vacationers- they were old and white! haha So Docie looked at me, and said "Now, do you see all of the tourists?"

Pretty beach

Docie and Aaron. We went to Uncle Harry's to give them one last try at being good again. They were ok... I doubt we will give them any more chances

Do you see the rainbow on Valentine's morning?

Priyal made us some chocolate cake for Valentine's Day!

You can see the towers where we live!

Ryan on Valentine's Day

This is my new "office!" One of our friends here, Priyal, lives on campus and has been nice enough to let me use her room and desk for me to work! It is so nice having my own space (not in a cramped storage closet)!

Check out my fancy desk and chair!

So nice!

I even have a kitchen to use if I need it!

And a bathroom! I feel so special!

Ryan took me to Moulin Fou for Valentine's Day and it was delicious! We got a huge sushi plate. I meant to take a picture of it, but I forgot.

Ryan making a heart! Happy Valentine's Day

Ryan is busy, busy studying for his Step 1 exam while taking his last class ever in medical school, ICM!!!!!!!!! Yay! I am so proud of him, and I know that he will do excellent on everything! It is hard to believe that we only have 2 short months left here on the island, so we have been trying to soak it all in while we can! I have already bought my plane ticket home which is very exciting but also kinda sad! I know that I will definitely miss living here!
